I am a self-taught painter. I work in acrylic, egg tempera, watercolour and graphite. My technique, which I describe as hyper-realism is a hybrid of mannerisms I learned in watercolour and egg tempera; a quilt of linear elements comprised of cross hatching, dots and splatters which are meant to give energy and movement to the compositions. Technique and design elements are the tools to create a spatial arrangement of visual cues meant to inspire a viewer’s interpretation based on their personal memories and experiences.
The initial vision is individual, but as the process evolves the artist moves along the continuum between artist and viewer; the painting unfolds for the artist as it does for the viewer. All interpretations are valid and the basis for communication and discussion.
