Emily Bickell grew up in Whitby, on the shore of Lake Ontario, Canada. In 1998 she received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts with a studio specialization in painting and printmaking from the University of Waterloo.

A life-long fascination with nature informs Emily's work. Her oil paintings of water float between abstraction and realism. Her travels around the National, Provincial and Regional parks of Canada, as well as her travels abroad, provide endless inspiration.

Emily's studio is located in Stouffville, Ontario, Canada (just north of Toronto), where she lives with her husband, Jason, and their dog, Cadbury. She sometimes teaches oil painting classes at her studio.
